


Following the CAF 33rd Ordinary General Assembly, the Executive Committee held its first meeting on February 24 in Khartoum, Sudan.
CAF President Issa Hayatou formally congratulated and welcomed the new members namely; Tarek Bouchamoui (Tunisia) – Northern zone, Kwesi Nyantakyi (Ghana) – Zone West B, Omari Constant (DR Congo) – Central zone, Leodegar Tenga (Tanzania) – Central-East zone and Kalusha Bwalya (Zambia) – Southern zone unto Executive Committee.
In line with Article 22.1 of the CAF statutes, the Executive Committee appointed Molefi Oliphant (former CAF Vice President) as a co-opted member. The Executive Committee welcomed with satisfaction General Memene’s appointment as CAF Honorary vice-president , decision taken unanimously by CAF General Assembly in Khartoum.
The following points were discussed and approved;
1- Progress report on Gabon and Equatorial Guinea preparations to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012. The Executive Committee expressed its satisfaction with progress made so far in both countries. The ongoing qualifiers will end in October 9, 2011
2- The executive committee also expressed it's satisfaction on the following reports:-
- Final tournament of the last U-17held in Rwanda
- Super Cup held in Lubumbashi, DR Congo
- On CHAN, which ends today (Friday), the Executive Committee expressed its satisfaction with the level of competition, congratulated the host country for providing the necessary support to stage a successful competition in Sudan
